Opening Day

Its finally here! The day I anticipate almost as much as the duck season opener! Hooray! There are lots of folks out there that could give two shits about baseball and to them I say, "You suck." To everyone else, well, don't forget to root for the Brewers!

Finally Friday!

Has that been a post title before? If it has, I'm not worried. It'll probably be recycled again. Things are finally winding down for the week and the weekend is upon us... What are you up to? Me? Well us... We're heading up to UC for the weekend for the UC Fireman's Hunter's Night Out! I can't remember how many years this fund raiser has been going, but it has been very good to the F family. We've only missed out on a couple of years of major door prizes. What can we say? We're lucky! Hopefully we'll continue that tradition this year... I could use a new side by side or over under shotgun or even a nice muzzle loader. Oh hell, I'm not that picky. I'd take whatever they want to give me! Other than winning firearms, I plan on hitting up my uncle's band saw and getting to work on the next set of decoys for the flock! I'm excited! Hopefully by this time next week, I'll post up my finished mallard decoy for all of you to gaze upon in all its wonderful glory. Or you'll think its an overpriced piece of cork that should be turned into a bunch of wine stoppers... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Ok. I'm getting a little random here so I'm going to wrap things up. Have a good weekend everyone!

Newest Member Of The Flock

Just put the wraps on this gal tonight. Loretta is her name. Let me know what you think... All of it... Seriously... The good, the bad, and the ugly!

Go Big Red!

Its March Madness time all right! Everyone at work seems to be driving everyone else mad! Anyways, Wisconsin made the Sweet Sixteen along with the other "Big Red". Well, at least thats his name... Probably the funniest mascot I've ever seen. If you're bored, search him out on You Tube! It'll make your day!

General Bitchiness

That seems to be the mood of the office today. I’m not sure why, but I think I’m getting a bad case of it too… People just don’t seem to get the idea of working and what its all about. Its something for someone else to do it seems. People make things up and don’t accept responsibility for them if things go awry. People can’t leave their personal lives at home. F’em I say. That’s what I’m saying about this post too. Have a day.

Substance

Ok. Time for a post with a little substance. The substance just happens to be my own “fears” if you will…

Lately, I’ve been what you might call a bit of an insomniac. If you don’t remember me saying that, you should check back in the posts to just a few days ago… In any case, I think I’ve drawn the conclusion that my insomnia is tied directly to the major events happening in my life. Major events you ask? You betcha I say.

Most everyone I know knows this already but it bears repeating for anyone who didn’t know: FMD and I are planning on moving out of Madison at the end of June and relocating to the greater Marshfield area. There I said it. Now that I’ve said it, I have to admit it scares the shit out of me… I guess it always has come to think of it. Most everyone knows that Marshfield is not an information technology epicenter. Most everyone knows that I work in an information technology field. Heck, the job I have right now is about the ideal IT job for me and I really enjoy it! I’m really worried, worried to the point I can’t sleep (I’ve concluded and upon concluding, I decided to write this post), that I won’t be able to find a job, or one that I won’t be happy with. I’ve always joked about the fact that I’m going to get hired on and manage the Fleet Farm in town, but really, I don’t think I’d be able to do it (I could if I HAD to but…). Really though, the concrete floors would kill my knees!

I’m a man and deep down inside me, there is this urge and need to provide for myself and my family. I have one of those now you know… Well, I’ve always had a family, but not one with my wife and a mortgage that is inevitable and who knows, maybe even some kids or a whole shit ton of basset hounds! FMD is going to have a great career and probably will be the bread winner of the family. I’m ok with that as long as she still lets me wear my pants around the house I guess… But still. I don’t like the feeling of it… Its just weird I guess. I’m not good on depending on others for my well being. I need to let go and accept the fact that I may not have my ideal career in Marshfield. On the other hand, I may just find the best job ever and look back on this day and think what a dolt I was all nay-saying my livelihood and such.

So there you have it. Thats what’s been on my mind lately. I’m scared that FMD will find her ideal job, that we’ll find an ideal home (with a less than ideal mortgage), and start your run of the mill ideal family. Only thing is, I don’t know where my place going to be in all of it. I’m having a little trouble seeing things that far ahead right now…

They Don't Belong!

There is no place in my Easter basket for black jelly beans! YUCK! Jelly bean manufacturers, be on notice! Keep those crappy beans out of my mix and sell them in your black jelly bean bags only! NO BLACK JELLY BEANS!!!

Thanks for those who have made it through this post. Hopefully I'll have something better to talk about tomorrow. Later!

John Daly!

I'm not even sure how I feel about this... I'm a Brewer's fan and I love golf... If these two worlds came together, the Brewer's would win the series for sure!

Insomniac

If only I was as funny as Dave Attell. Oh well.

Yesterday I only slept for an hour and a half from 4:30 am to 6:00 am. I called in sick to work. Was I "sick" sick? No. Was I sick of not sleeping? Yes. Last night I tried to go to bed and was successful until FMD came home from work. It woke me up after a 15 minute nap and I couldn't get back to sleep again. After a healthy dose of sleeping pills and a good book. I managed about five and a half hours last night. Why aren't I more tired than I am? I really don't have an answer for that... I made it all day yesterday and today without feeling tired or exhausted. Am I getting caught up in the I need to sleep because I think I need to sleep? I don't know, but I hope this doesn't last much longer!

Happy Birthday!

I want to take this moment to wish my wonderful wife a great big "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"!!! If you haven't wished her a happy birthday yet, you probably should right about... NOW!

Golfers And Kayakers Are Taking Over The World

You heard me right. I'm heading to Canoecopia at 4:00 this afternoon and I'll bet $5,000 there's more kayaking crap there than canoe crap. Just the way the world is. The thing that I have to give credit to the kayak makers for is the numerous marriages they have saved. I don't know if you've ever been on a canoe trip with someone who can't paddle, but its one of the most frustrating things ever... If you have two kayaks, everyone is on their own and the arguing is cut by approximately 200%. One should note however, that 72% of facts are made up on the spot.

And golfers too! Damn! Not that its a marriage thing, but it is a be humane to protected species or your ass is going to get tossed into jail thing. Read up:

http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/news?slug=ap-golfer-birdkilled&prov=ap&type=lgns

While video footage like this may be good for a bloopers reel, swearing at the bird when it makes noise when you're in the middle of a shoot is one thing, but pummeling it in the head with a golf ball? Wow. Not that cool I guess. Such is life though. We've all done stupid things that we're certainly not proud of and we could get in big time trouble if we were caught doing it (by someone who gives two shits)... As a wise man named Bill Engvall once said, "Stupid people should have to wear signs that say, "I'm Stupid." "

Chocolate Milk

I just can't get enough! I actually bought a half gallon to keep at work and have been trying to limit myself to just 2 cups a day, but that logic only leaves me searching for a bigger cup!

All of us have our vices. The things we just can't resist. I love milk, and this week, it just so happens to be chocolate milk. I also find myself unable to pass up cookies and cake. I rely on my morning pop-tarts as much as some people rely on their morning coffee. Is this an addiction? Is this healthy? I think its neither, but instead I think its all about routine. Taking a break every day to get away from the desk to warm up my pop-tarts just gets me away from my desk and computer. I think its the reason everyone's office water cooler is such a popular hang out.

Every day that passes, I feel as though I'm living a little more in a Dilbert cartoon, minus the weird talking animals. I think I need to get out more!

Nothing New

Well, the title just about sums it up. There really isn't anything new happening in this neck of the woods. The next couple nights I have to myself as FMD is working late and I may try to work on my decoys. I'm having a hard time motivated about doing them thought... Oh well. Time to make the doughnuts...

Rabbit vs. Snake

Yet another reason I hunt rabbits... I have to stand up for all my snake peeps!

Welcome Back!

The weekend was a welcomed one. Friday night found me... Well... I don't rightly remember. FMD, if you're reading this, could you remind me sometime? Thanks.

Saturday was supposed to be a sleep in day but like the dork I am, I set my alarm like I needed to go to work. Crap. I fell back asleep and woke up with nothing to do. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to do, but I just didn't feel like doing any of it. I sat and watched the crappy cartoons and the America's Cup gymnastics. Ok. Who can fault me? I get 5 or so stations, 3 of them I get good reception on, and I don't like the people who preach to me that early in the morning and I didn't care for the get off your ass infomercial they were airing on the other one. Gymnastics it was. Did anyone else know that the current Olympic gold medalist in men's gymnastics is from WI? Learn something every day.

Saturday night was fight night and FMD and I headed down to Hooters to watch and dine on chicken wings and fried pickles. After being there for an hour and a half and everyone around us getting served they're food before us, it was found out that our order was lost. Order lost means free food in the restaurant biz. FMD and I didn't take advantage of the fact and order a round for the bar or cash in on some dessert... We just settled into our stools and scarfed down our food once it did come. We also saw the first unification title match for the middleweight division in mixed martial arts. Pretty sweet fight but I still can't get over the fact that these men decided they wanted to beat the crap out of each other when they choose a career. Sorry but if my son says he want to be a prize fighter, I'll politely tell him thats one of the craziest things I've ever heard and tell him he should take up golf or baseball instead. In those sports, even if you suck, you don't end up with major head injuries for the rest of your life. Ok. At least the chances are less likely!

Sunday was more sleeping in and playing video games. I talked FMD out of studying and she obliged watched Scrubs with me for an hour or two. I miss those days of being in school and blowing off studying for tests...

Today is well, once again Monday. I did my work for the day in about an hour and now I'm here blogging about it after catching up on what the Brewers did this weekend. Other than that, I played Tetris while taking a crap and my legs fell asleep because I was in there so long doing it. I'm never going to hack it as a father unless I can get my crap time up to 20+ minutes without my legs falling asleep on me... Oh well! Practice makes perfect!

PS- TMI I know... Thats what you get for reading my blog on a slow day!

PPS- I'm secretly hatching plans to drive to Ohio in two weeks to attend the Westlake decoy show... I've only come up with that plan in the past hour, but we'll have to see where it goes!
