Catch Up

Ok. This isn't my post about "Stopping by to Say Hi" like I promised earlier (and hopefully I'll still be able to get to that), but it is a catch up post since its been a week since I've done my last "official" post. What a lazy blogger I've been!

Last Friday was doughnut day at work so I knew my weekend was destined to be wonderful... I was right. Friday and Saturday nights were quiet nights at home with my wife watching a couple movies I've been meaning to see for a while now, Bourne Ultimatum and Oceans 13. Pretty main stream, but both conspiracy type stories that I really enjoy getting into.

Saturday found me spending the majority of the morning in bed sleeping late and the afternoon hanging out with my brother playing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on his new Wii. I have the game for the Gamecube because I'm not a big nerd with the latest and greatest gaming systems, and it was tough for me to watch him play it because I always knew the next step and where he had to go to do whatever it was he was doing. It also was tough because the game is in reverse. The Wii offers the option to play the game left or right handed since you have to wield the sword by your movements. The character in the game is probably the most famous left handed character ever in a video game and it has been designed around him being left handed. In order to allow users to play left handed, they mirrored the entire game! Kind of weird... I'm off my soapbox now.

Saturday night was also the debut night of the down comforter FMD got as a wedding present. Oh boy. I like to sleep warm but really there's warm and there's drowning in a pool of your own sweat. I really don't feel that there's a need for a down comforter in an apartment that stays at a cozy 71.4 degrees and even slightly warmer than that in the bedroom... FMD however, thinks this is necessary. Needless to say, I didn't sleep at all. I'm sure for a few minutes here and a few minutes there I did, but thats about it. I hate to admit it, but I got out of bed at 5:30 to go sleep in our spare bedroom so I could try to catch a few winks of sleep. We've since taken the flannel sheets off the bed and things have gotten a little more reasonable, but I still struggle with it. I feel like the thing is trying to choke the life out of me. It just holds you to the bed because its so heavy and it just surrounds you... Last night (Wednesday) was probably the first night of decent sleep I got since the thing has been on the bed. Hopefully I'll continue to get used to it...

Monday found me at work again and found FMD and I playing UNO at night. The first game was sort of back and forth, but whenever I'd win a hand it would score tons of points. Whenever she won a hand, she scored six. Needless to say, I won. FMD asked for a rematch and feeling cocky like I was, I say sure! No problem! In playing to 300, I had a score of 0 and FMD's score was something like 472. Ouch. Enough of that I thought. We didn't make it to a rubber match. I can't handle getting beaten that badly. What can I say, I'm a sore loser!

Tuesday night was decoy carving night. I finished another bluebill body and the mallard is now on the workbench ready to be chopped. I stopped and went to watch my video on what I'm supposed to do before I started and I'm thankful that I did! I would have had a funny looking (and expensive) duck that I'd be ashamed to put in the marsh with the rest of my decoys. Maybe tonight I'll get to working on Virgil. Yup. I name my decoys. The first one you all saw was named Merle and his girlfriend I'm working on now is Loretta. I'm a dork. What can I say?

Last night I got home and got to pick up 2 pots, a frying pan, and a teakettle for $302.24. Damn. All of this after a $1000 bill from the dentist and endodontist because I went over my insurance "maximum" for the year... Damn doctors anyways... Back to the pots. LeCruesset pots to be exact. If you know about cooking, you probably know all about them. Check them out here: pots, fry pan, and tea kettle. We had to get them because they're discontinuing the "Williams Sonoma Green" color and we can't have a mis-matched set ;) All is well though. The person we got them from was so excited because these are pieces we'll have for a lifetime! All I was thinking was that I needed to go to the gym and bulk up a little because the buggers are so heavy I can't lift them! Anyways, we got some wonderful cookware for and outstanding (relative term here folks) price and we're all set for pots and pans for a lifetime!

On a little more serious note, the reason I went to pick up our new cookware was because FMD was in Marshfield visiting her grandpa in the hospital. Her whole family (minus her brother and mom) has bronchitis and they think her grandpa may have contracted it. The good news is that they think they caught it early enough that it won't be a serious threat to his health and he'll probably be able to go home on Friday. If you're the praying type, a few extra wouldn't hurt. If your not, a few extra thoughts for the family wouldn't hurt either.

I guess thats about it now! Whew! Thats quite the post! Like I said earlier, I still want to post on my deep thought of the week, if only I can find the time! Hope everyone is doing well!

Ah yes. The infamous 1 cent book. I love it! As I recall, a good time was had by all! You really can't go wrong with Zelda!
