Decoy Carving - Part 2

Last night I started working on my decoy again, but I came to realize that I wasn't going to be able to make as good of a go of it unless I broke down and sanded the thing... How do you sand a decoy? A bow sander, thats how. Where do you get a bow sander from? Well, apparently not the wood working store in town... So I made a run to Menards last night and bought the supplies to make my own! The paper itself was the most expensive part of the whole thing! I don't have any photos of the sander, but I do have updated photos of my progress thus far.

Photo of me rasping out the side pockets. I must have been confused in my previous life because I thought they were called wings... Who knew?

What a poser! Seriously... All the work has been done at this point. I'm not really cutting anything! I must not look in the mirror too often either... I really need a haircut!

Top view of the decoy, complete with the "rain gutter". I guess I need to take a duck anatomy lesson!

I guess that wraps it up for now! Tonight hopefully I'll be able to finish rounding the body in and start on the head this weekend!
